Themes of the Conference

The main theme of the conference is: “Towards Lisbon 2010: Collaboration for Innovative Content in Lifelong Open and Flexible Learning”.

Because of the Conference’s Working Format, distance education organisations dedicated to Lifelong Open and Flexible (LOF) learning, from all over Europe, and beyond, can meet and join hands to incubate challenging prospects: boosted bottom-up and fostered top-down. In facilitating all kind of collaboration, the 2005 Working Conference is divided into:

(1) Disciplinary Working strands

Considering the emphasis of the 2005 Conference on inter-institutional collaboration, this year’s Conference will consist of three disciplinary Working Strands: Humanities, Social and Cultural Sciences / Natural and Exact Sciences / Medical Sciences and Health Care. These Workings Strands will guide you through the various aspects of collaboration for innovative content in LOF learning.

Conference chairs appointed to the Working Strands will encourage every participant to engage in a dynamic group process, interacting and discussing current and future initiatives on collaboration, as presented or submitted via paper. All papers will receive ample time for discussion. Four separate timeslots for working strands will be reserved, of which each is dedicated to a specific theme: Multimedia Content, Tutoring and Assessment, Academic Cooperation, and Research and Development. A call for submission of papers hereon will be sent out by the EADTU secretariat.

During the 2005 Working Conference, EADTU offers facilities and guidance to those who wish to collaborate: those who seek collaboration, innovation and incubation. A call for submission of CA sessions hereon will be sent out by the EADTU secretariat. In the second announcement of the EADTU 2005 Working Conference, special attention will be asked for participation in our organised CA sessions, leading to course, staff, curriculum and mobility collaboration.
