eLearnTN

This project arises as an initiative of some of the most important players in distance education in Europe, the open universities. Together they form a Thematic Network. It’s an IST project in the 5th Framework programme of the European Commission.

The goal of the project is to study, from their own experiences and from contributions of external experts, the effects of IST in the education field in the near future.

The Thematic Network will define new collaboration schemas that allow to approach, from different perspectives, the study or creation of a great set of technologies and the definition of the necessary pedagogic models for their effective application in the teaching, offering the human and technological necessary critical mass.

The project is compromised of three Thematic Working Groups, each one devoted to research in a specific area related to distance learning:

• Pedagogy & Organisation
• Business & Legal Issues
• Technologies & Infrastructure

The results of the eLearning Thematic Network will be presented at the conference.

MISSION

The Mission-project aims to strengthen the links between the CEE PHARE ODL Centres – that were established by the support of the PHARE Multi-Country Programme for Distance Education.

			Moreover, it supports also the improvement of stability and effectiveness of long-term collaboration between Eastern and Western European ODL Study Centres. At the same time, the project contributes to the more general goal of enhancing the awareness of ODL as the most
	effective and flexible methodology and most innovative tool for supporting the European dimension of Life Long Learning and globalisation in education.
