An operational conception of virtual mobility

Virtual Mobility creates a new potential for the organization to offer an international experience for students. Hence, it contributes to the Bologna process and enhances the quality of courses and curricula.

In 2004, EADTU established a Task Force on Virtual Mobility to explore the potential of VM for non-mobile students, whether studying in distance teaching (off-campus) or in conventional (on-campus) programmes, that are not covered by the current Erasmus programme. This Task Force developed the E-MOVE project under the e-learning programme that started in January 2006.

This project will focus on four separate types, models and scenarios for organising Virtual Mobility (VM):

  1. Organising a pool of international courses: choosing courses from different foreign institutions
  2. Building a Virtual Community: creating VM in the framework of an international learning experience by ICT within a course
  3. Creating an international virtual space for joint courses and joint programmes with international partners
  4. Facilitating European access to suitable and relevant courses for continuing professional training and development (CPT/CPD)

Timescale

The project will start with a Kick-Off meeting on the 16th and 17th of February 2006 in Heerlen. Final results are expected at the annual EADTU conference in November 2007
